My Story

On paper, I had it all: I'd achieved a good amount of success. I had a seat at the table, a team I respected at a company I genuinely cared about. But, I hit a point where this level of success felt like a plateau. I wanted to take my career in a new direction, yet I felt stuck. I worried that being honest about my ambitions would look like disloyalty, or worse, damage the relationships I'd spent years building with my leadership team.

 

I realized I was treating my career ambitions like a secret, that I couldn't share, rather than a strategy to be managed.

 

The shift happened when I stopped viewing my goals as an "exit" and started viewing them as a strategic realignment. With the help of my own coach, I learned how to have the "uncomfortable" conversations - the ones we usually avoid. I held the conversation and laid out a vision that honored the contributions I had already made, while being clear about my future trajectory clear. Being transparent didn't burn bridges - it built a stronger one to my next chapter.
